Liz combines two roles as the Director of Midwifery and the Clinical Midwifery Manager and is responsible for running the maternity services at Hauora Tairāwhiti and keeping mothers and babies safe. She provides strategic leadership to ensure current and future maternity services remain safe whilst providing high quality care to all women, babies and whānau. She is also the chair of the clinical governance committee and a member ofTe Kāhui Whakahaere Executive Leadership Team. Liz therefore has a in-depth understanding of the overall services provided by Hauora Tairāwhiti and involved in making changes at this level.
Liz trained in the UK initially as a nurse then as a midwife and has 32 years midwifery experience. She has held management/leadership positions in both primary and secondary care units here in New Zealand and the UK and embraces the challenge of change with a passion if results are aimed at improving the services for the better.
