Group Manager Finance, Procurement and Facilities & Chief Financial Officer

Craig serves as Group Manager Finance, Procurement and Facilities & Chief Financial Officer for Hauora Tairāwhiti DHB.  In his role, Craig provides leadership and financial oversight of Hauora Tairāwhiti.

Craig is a seasoned finance expert with 20 years of progressive leadership experience at organizations in New Zealand and Europe / Middle East. He serves as a key strategic and financial advisor to the Chief Executive Officer of  Hauora Tairāwhiti, providing the analytical framework and business judgment necessary to evaluate alternative initiatives and help drive operating and financial performance. He has responsibility for operating and capital budget, financial reporting, financial planning, internal/external audit engagements, supply chain, transport, facilities, housekeeping/orderlies & security.

Prior to joining Hauora Tairāwhiti in November 2015, Craig was Group Finance Transition Manager for Quant Limited, based in Stockholm, Sweden. Over the course of his career, Craig has carved out a reputation as a strong leader with high integrity, focused on continuous improvement and a passion for value-added health care. He has a particular interest in Operational Excellence, a background in Lean Manufacturing and is passionate about delivering value-based healthcare to our community.

At a Regional level, Craig serves on the eSPACE Programme Board as CFO representative for the Midland Region. At a National level, Craig serves at the CFO representative on the Employee Relations Strategic Group (ERSG) and Chairs the CFO Review Group (GRG) which reviews all MECA costings.  He is also a CFO representative on the Health Asset Management Improvement (HAMI) group.

Craig holds both a Bachelor of Business Studies in Accounting and a Post Graduate Diploma in Professional Accounting from Massey University and an MBA in Transformational Leadership from Waikato University. He is also a Chartered Accountant with the Institute of Chartered Accountants Australia and New Zealand (ICAANZ). He also holds certificates in Value Measurement for Healthcare from Harvard Business School (HBS) and Lean Healthcare from University of Michigan.  In addition to his professional endeavors, Craig serves as a member of Business Mentors New Zealand and provides mentoring to local businesses in Gisborne and Tairawhiti region.
