Tairāwhiti reaches 10,000 cases since outbreak

There are 83 new cases to report today. Approximately 10,000 of us have had COVID-19 now, which is about 20% of our population. Two people are in hospital.

Today we’d like to acknowledge our doctors, pharmacists, nurses and staff in our medical centres and pharmacies across te Tairāwhiti. They have been the foundation of our response to COVID-19.

They have gone above and beyond to ensure our people have recieved the right care at the right time. They stepped up when it mattered most, using innovation and intelligence to adapt to the ever-changing situation to provide care to our people. Thank you all.

-          Please note that the EGG-stravaganza vaccination event planned for today has been postponed until this Saturday from 10-1pm at the Matai Section on Childers Road.

-          If you don’t have RATs at home, please come down to the Railway Station on Grey St tomorrow between 10:30 and 12:30pm. You can collect even if you don’t have symptoms.

-          If you can’t make it tomorrow, you can also pick up RATs at the EGG-stravaganza event on Saturday.

-          The Railway Station or Te Tini o Porou RAT collection centres will NOT be open this Easter long weekend. Our teams will be taking a well-deserved break.
